Dispatch // About

Intel for the people who run the trucks.

Most trucking advice online is written for American carriers, or it is a sales pitch wearing a guide costume. Ontario carriers get neither: our insurance market, our CVOR system, and our cost structure work differently, and generic guidance gets expensive fast.

Carrier Navigator exists to close that gap. It is an independent publication of field guides for Ontario trucking carriers: insurance, safety ratings, operating costs, and starting a carrier. Every guide is built on Ontario rules and Ontario numbers, written in plain language, and free to read in full.

Who it is for

Owner-operators running their own truck. Small fleets trying to keep their CVOR clean and their costs honest. New carriers lining up their first policy, their first CVOR application, and their first quoted rate. If you price freight, buy truck insurance, or answer to the MTO in Ontario, this is written for you.

Editorial standards

  1. 01
Ontario-specific. Every rule, threshold, and dollar figure is Ontario. Where the US differs, we say so instead of letting you guess.
  2. 02
Plain language. No jargon without an explanation. If a new carrier cannot follow it, it gets rewritten until they can.
  3. 03
No paywall. Every guide is free, start to finish. No gated chapters, no email wall before the numbers.
  4. 04
Dated and maintained. Every guide carries an updated date. When the rules or the market move, the guide moves with them.
  5. 05
Independent. Carrier Navigator is not a brokerage and sells nothing. Guides are educational information, not insurance advice, and every insurance placement in Ontario still goes through a RIBO-licensed agent or broker.
